Tooth loss can affect an adult patient, age 45 and older, physically and emotionally. Left untreated, tooth loss can lead to teeth shifting into the gaps from missing teeth. As a result, the patient may feel self-conscious about smiling. Fortunately, the team at Richmond Smile Center offers several treatments to adult patients, including dentures, to restore missing teeth.
Exploring your candidacy for dentures
The first step toward achieving an attractive smile is to schedule a consultation with respected dentist Dr. Charles Martin. He will review your medical history and examine your mouth, teeth, gums, jawbone, and soft tissues. Dr. Martin may use innovative technology including an intra-oral camera to identify issues that are difficult to see with the unassisted eye. He can then display the images on a computer screen to explain the diagnosis and recommended treatment. There may also be digital x-rays taken to examine the health of your jawbone and soft tissues.
Learning about denture treatment
If you are a candidate for dentures, Dr. Martin will discuss the types available and form a treatment plan with you. We provide partial and complete dentures, the All-on-4 implant system, and The Denture Fountain of Youth™. Partial dentures are ideal for restoring one or more missing teeth. Complete dentures can replace an entire dental arch.
For treatment, impressions will be taken of your dental arches. These molds are sent to a dental laboratory for fabrication of your customized dentures. They are designed to appear natural, so it is not noticeable that you have had denture treatment. The All-on-4 implant system involves a method of securing specially designed dentures with dental implants. The Denture Fountain of Youth™ are designed with the neuromuscular composition of the patient’s face in mind, enhancing the facial profile for a more youthful appearance.
With all of our treatments, you can count on smiling confidently. To explore dentures, schedule your consultation with Dr. Martin by calling 804.417.7203.
