Cosmetic Dentistry and Orthodontics

August 11, 2010

More and more adults are using orthodontics to improve the alignment and position of the teeth. For some adults, this can save them tens of thousands of dollars by simply moving teeth where they belong, getting rid of gaps and spaces.

For others, the orthodontics will just simply take too long to get done. And therefore, they have other procedures done, including crown and bridgework, veneers and implants to correct the problems.

I generally advise the majority of my patients that orthodontics is the first treatment that should be considered to solve significant dental problems where it is appropriate. If you have lots of existing dental work, it is often simpler to use restorative dentistry to correct the problems. Other situations benefit from a combined approach of orthodontics plus the use of porcelain veneers, dental implants and smile design.

For some adults, orthodontics is virtually required to really correct what’s wrong. You should include it among the possible methods to get your dental problems corrected.
